Wong has 50k followers on Twitter!
This knack of finding featuring before its official announcement has given Wong a celebrity status. She has more than 50,000 followers, and recently, two high profile people followed her. The first one was Adam Mosseri, the head of Facebook’s Instagram, followed by Andrew Bosworth, the head of Facebook’s hardware initiatives. Wong tweeted about her new high-profile followers, and an Instagram data scientist replied that she is a better source to find what’s going on at his company that the company internal communications team. On average, Wong finds three new features per day. For instance, this week, she tweeted about new features from Uber, Slack, and Pinterest.
Facebook and Instagram are Wong’s favourite app!
On April 18, Wong tweeted about Instagram is testing ‘hiding like counts from users.’ Her tweet racked up nearly 8,000 likes, and twelve days later, Mosseri confirmed Wong’s discovery at Facebook’s F8 software developer conference. Wong is a self-taught coder who learned to code by reading books and programs from the Internet. Although she can easily make hundreds of dollars every time, she discovers and reports any security vulnerability. However, she refuses to do so, calling this a hobby and not a job. She doesn’t intend to make any money from it. Even though many Facebook employees are following her work, she has no plans to stop tweeting. Instead, she wants to work at a big tech company like Facebook. So she can build such features herself.
